Questions and answers with Sydney Arrison..

·
I was interviewed by author Black Diamond a while ago, and she posted it on her blog. Below is the entire interview.

         Favorite color?  Lavender.
·         Favorite snack?  Popcorn.
·         Favorite fruit? Red delicious apples and mangoes.
·         Favorite flower? Lilacs.
·         Favorite pet? Dog.
Words to live by? "Keep encouraged."
·         Fantasy Vacation?  Wherever the sun is shining and the grass is green.  At some point I would like to visit Paris, Seoul, Ireland and Italy, Africa.
·         Favorite scent? I love the smell of baked goods and fresh cut flowers.
·         Favorite hobbies? Biking, hiking, photography, reading, watching classic and foreign films.
·         Favorite love song? Too many to name... I do enjoy a sad love song. “Someone like you" by Adele is heartbreaking.
·         Favorite Season? Autumn.
·         Favorite insect? Butterflies.
·         Favorite thing to do while on vacation? I enjoy visiting museums, checking out architecture and historic homes.
·         Tell us one random thing about you? I have a collection of porcelain Teddy bears.
·         What makes a man sexy?   One of the most attractive qualities a man can possess is confidence. I also find intelligence and compassion very sexy. A nice smile and kind eyes are very appealing too.
·         What are your future goals? There’s an abandoned hotel across from the bike trail, and I would like to turn it into housing for the homeless or a no-kill animal shelter. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do …I even have a name picked out for it. I would also like to continue writing and creating unique characters. My next project is a straight up love story, but I would love to put out another mystery.. It seems that's where my heart is now.

Happy Easter!

"In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash’d palings,

Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,

With every leaf a miracle—and from this bush in the dooryard,

With delicate-color’d blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

A sprig with its flower I break"

Passage from " When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d"  by Walt Whitman.

So beautiful, so haunting, so sad and yet... So hopeful.

Writing break music...

"The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains and thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above"

The surface..

I feel as an author, it's my job to put the reader in the story; to make them feel love, passion, torment anger and sadness. There were so many dynamics to Brooklyn's Song, and one of things that makes me the most proud, is having readers really get it. Someone sent me this review of the book over the weekend, and it really touched my heart, because I remembered the emotions I had to conjure up to write certain scenes. Although subtle, the sadness and loneliness in Brooklyn and Song was always there beneath the surface...Which made their bond unique and strong.

"Nope I didn't see that coming. I took a break from my millionaire/billionaire books and took a chance on this one it was exceptional mystery that deals with loss in a very realistic way. Mattice was so funny too .Song was just what Brook needed. Don't want to give anything away but OMG!!"
