"This is the love journey of Brooklyn and Song. Brooklyn is the privileged daughter of the first African-American governor of the state of New York. Song is the son of a 1st generation South Korean. Brooklyn although privileged she grew up with all of the best that life has to offer she was a pretty down-to-earth young lady. She is a elementary school teacher. And Song is your average run-of-the-mill New York City detective. 

These two meet and sparks fly immediately but as you would imagine both carry baggage very similar baggage they both know a bite and Hurt of a very close loved one dying before their time. They both recognize this pain and each other even before they discuss it. However things get very real when someone tries to hurt Brooklyn. Overall the story was a very good one although they were times I wanted to shake Brooklyn. But overall it was a good story especially towards the end. I recommend this book to you. The story is both interracial and an HEA."

What's in a name?

 

Growing up one of my favorite movies was "Sparkle", starring Irene Cara, Lonette McKee, Phillip Michael Thomas, Dwan Smith and Dorian Harewood.  My sisters and I have watched that movie so many times, we probably can recite the script, word for word. 

I paid homage to some of my favorite actors/actresses from the movie by naming some of my characters in "Brooklyn's Song" after them. For example, Brooklyn's best friend is named Lonette. 

Let me know if you recognize any of the other actors' names in the book.

Jacaranda trees.

I  have a few maple and ash trees around my  house, but I would love to have a jacaranda tree. The color is so beautiful and vibrant.

Amazon in Korea?

 A few South Korean readers wanted to know if they could purchase my books via Amazon. Perhaps one day they'll be able to, but as of now Amazon hasn’t tapped into the Korean market.

"Coupang, South Korea’s largest online retailer, has raised $300 million in private equity to fend off Amazon’s entrance into the market, which is expected this year.
To date, the company, which was founded by Harvard Business School dropout Bom Kim four years ago, has raised $480 million, valuing the company close to $2 billion, according to Bloomberg, which quoted people familiar with the deal.
BlackRock Private Equity Partners led the round and Wellington Management Company, Greenoaks Capital Management and Rose Park Advisors also participated. The round will give the company a sizable war chest — around $500 million in cash, to be precise — to prepare for Amazon’s arrival in the country, which is expected this year, according to a report by a Korean newspaper "
